What do you think about customizing/creating specialized badges.
I rather like the idea of "You can set up more than one category track, so try choosing two categories that would help users show off their specialty! Ignite a rivalry between the users who edit Vampires pages and the users who edit Werewolves pages,..."
I wish TVD had this because of there main two species
So I've got three tracks done. Werewolves, Witches, and Vampires. (each with customized badge names --let me know what you think and/or change wherever) Do you want badge tracks for each species, i.e. Weretiger, Ghost, Psychic and Angel as well or just the well known species?
Nice! Those are awesome. I think each creature should have its own track. I'd imagine that it might be difficult for a species like the weretiger since we don't know anything about them yet. So you don't have to do all of them if it becomes a problem like that, hold off on it if necessary.
As for individual pages, I think we should create those for the important crew members, like directors, writers and producers who have worked on more than one episode. Camera men and minor crew members, if necessary, we can just link them to IMDb like we would do with minor characters.
Yul was there too. It's kind of confusing. Either they're major recurring or they've both been bumped up to series regular, and no one has said anything. I think we should just go by his latest released status. It's not really unheard of for major recurring cast members to attend panels. JR Bourne (Argent) and Cody Christian (Theo) did it with TW.
I'm really looking forward to the design of the character promotional images. I'm more hype for this summer show than I am for TW, and that doesn't happen too often. So, I hope this show's a hit. Gotta say, I'm really happy it's not on the CW.
NBC is a pretty good network imo, that is if they actually give a show a chance, they are notorious for canceling shows after their premiere season though I think MTX will be great and TVD/TO/Grimmm/EC fans will probably flock to it given that they've ended.
Hopefully, the ratings are good. We haven't even seen the show, but I'm gonna be pissed if they don't get a 2nd season. I've never been this hype for a show I haven't even seen yet. Between the fans of the books, and the supernatural shows that you mentioned, I could see this going well.
Thanks for taking care of that. (I would have tagged all of those so I appreciate that.)
I still wanna tag each episode for images along with the season one tag that way if you're searching for a specific scene for a specific episode it can be quickly found so once the official synopses come out then I can create those for images.
Sounds like a good idea. That should make it a lot easier to find images. Speaking of which, what's your take on separate gallery pages (Olivia Charity/Gallery, Joe Strong/Gallery, etc)? I don't like them. I find them to be unnecessary. Thoughts?
I'd only suggest the subpages if the parent page has too much info/code on it.. i.e. if we went for 8 season with 22eps each, then galleries for mains may need to be separated out (slows down page loading etc.) For now on their pages is fine because it is easily found and all the content for that character is together on one page.
Since NBC has a habit (both trailers) of removing the trailers and the main page should have a trailer for the users that visit to work, what do you think about his video that combines both the first and second trailer?
Yep. Hopefully, tonight I can get Breeda's page up.
That's the plan. All Co-stars will be linked through that IMDb template.
Sheriff Livingston would be best. If someone comes searching for this character, I guarantee you the first word will be Sheriff. Speaking of which, that had to be the biggest shocker of the episode. Why was he credited as a main XD
Yeah I'm not sure. Kinda makes since. I read that the Murder plot will kinda get placed on the back burner throughout the episodes and it will focus on the Demons as the main plot, so I guess the Sheriff will featured a bit.
I did just double check that Jos Smith (voice of Mr. Snuggly) is actually not credited. Which is weird. I guess voice work doesn't get credited? Wonder why that is..
Is that also the reasoning behind the Rachel/Harold redirect verses just linking to the season one minor page?
Same here. I generally dont care for vamps, and even through all the promotion, I didn't really care for Lemuel, but that one episode has me liking him.
I don't think I've ever said in my life that Monday needs to hurry up, but thats exactly how I'm feeling. Never connected to a show as quickly as I have this one. Apparently, we arent the only ones. A ton of tweets about people being hooked.
I don't think the a section on the minor characters page is need for a nameless officer with no name or lines. Minor character pages are typically for characters of relevance to the story but don't have enough info for a page. The officer was pretty irrelevant imo.
He had a line something like hey we found something... but if you want to remove it, be my guest. Idk why he was even credited to begin with when he wasn't featured in the investigation like Tina and Livingston.
But makes sense. SOL bikers are also nameless, but their scene was significant. Rachel and Harold set up Manfred's introduction and his abilities so by comparison, they are "significant" (for a lack of a better word) minor characters.
Good to know then. :)
Edit: I did tweak the opening statement though to "The characters below are listed in order of appearance for your convenience." Alphabetical seems weird me. I.e. spoil content say if an ep8 character is before ep1 or something, idk if it matters but, Imo, order of appearance, per episode, seems logical as you'd just keep adding to the list.
What do you think of modifying the assassin category to include bounty hunters? Since the most recent synopsis credits Bowie as one. I mean for now, just one character in a category seems like a waste... I'm debating a succubus category too because we will probably not have another one of those...
We could have a generic "Supernatural" category to cover those that are not the core species...?
Sounds like a good idea. No point in having two separate categories for assassins and bounty hunters. They're pretty much the same for the most part. Since the odds of another Succubus being introduced are low, I doubt we need a category.
I was thinking a "Supernaturals" category would be more accurate since titles of categories are usually plural and Chuy referred to them as "Supernaturals" when asking about the veil
For main cast, I thought if they were absent from the episode we were going with "credit only"... versus removing them altogether? I ask because Sheriff Livingston wasn't "credited" in Lemuel, Unchained, but is listed as "credit only".
Just let me know to clear things up for future episodes.
I didn't realize he was listed as credited on Lemuel, Unchained. That should be removed as well. "credit only" is for characters that dont appear but were credited. The Rev and Sheriff weren't credited nor did they appear. That's why I removed them.
Is there enough information to create a page for Ross? Peter makes sense bc we'll be seeing more of him, and that was something I had been meaning to get to as well. But I don't see there being much with Ross.
Hey, how come my images for Patsy and Ted were replaced? Was there something wrong with them? I don't really see much of a difference in between images. Just asking bc I wanna avoid any mistakes in the future.
No worries. Wasn't rude at all. This message actually reminded me that I was suppose to leave you another message. I came across this script draft for RD 2x01 some days ago. I meant to message it to you that day but I forgot. I have no idea if it's legit but if it is, that means Sabrina appears in the premiere. Skip to the very last page (pg 39). I haven't even read the whole thing yet.
Initially, I was just going to put them all in a gallery, but then I figured, some may want to know a little more about them and since they were credited, I figured a line or two about their appearance is appreciated.
Okay, then I'll tag the images, since it will be kept.
It's gotten better. I never really got into forums. I think when I original came to TVD wiki, it was around and I didn't really care about them, and then they started to phase it out so I didn't see the point in it.
Also, contemplating this... not sure if you saw it or not. I know we have the notable section, which is fine, but I feel like a comprehensive list or something should be detailed? I mean some are uncredited but I thought at least, they could get a mention or an image or something. I don't think a table like the Minor Characters is necessary and though maybe a separate gallery would be sufficient. What are your thoughts?
There's no source editor in Discussion and you can't highlight threads. Those are my biggest problems, especially not being able to highlight threads. That is very important when you have a community. I see You an OA struggling to get certain info out bc everyone isn't seeing it. This is literally the perfect example of why highlighted threads are necessary. Every user on the wiki automatically gets the message, which is why I think it was premature for the TVD wiki to disable forums.
No. I didn't see it. Seems a bit redundant since we already have the 'notable *insert species name here*' section imo. Labeling the images is fine, but it seems strange to section them off.
Yeah in discussions, things tend to get buried by random, sometimes pointless post. I do like the highlight feature and I hope that they bring that back eventually in discussions. Not having the source editor is highly frustrating. Can't link anything properly. Smh
So remove it entirely (as it as before), or maybe just list all *insert species instead of the notable section? It doesn't really matter to me, I just though it would highlight the other ghosts that may not have really any role (especially if they aren't credited as minors). I can change it back if you'd rather though.
Trust me. I know how hard they're pushing it. The TW wiki was one of the first to test it out. Staff's been trying to get this to work for a little while now. I know they've recently added global discussion moderators. They basically can moderate the discussion of any wiki. They have no plans on giving up on this.
I'm aware of the G.D.M. Not sure how many users they are bringing into that, but I think OA is a part of it as well. I don't understand why everything takes so long with them. I mean users complain about not having certain things retained like highlighting certain forums. That would be a major benefit to discussions, so I don't see why it's not been done yet.
Its like they're dragging their ass, but at the same time, they're pushing everyone into accepting discussion. When creating a new wiki, forums are automatically disabled and discussions are enabled. You'd think that they'd pick up the pace with adding what's missing. Then maybe more users, such as myself, would be more inclined to transition over to Discussions. Seems so simple.
I really like the notifications feature. Other than that, a few more improvements and integration is still needed. It still seems to separate from the main wiki (though I do like the Discussions feed rail; seems more inclusive). With TVD, there's a clear separation between discussions users and wiki users, some never going to the other and then theres the few that actually do both. I guess it will just take time, but like you said seems simple so I don't understand the sluggish activity around it.
I've noticed that complaint from a lot of users. They all feel like Discussions is its own thing. They need to change the appearance. It needs to greatly resemble the wiki its apart of, and having that discussions rail automatically set to all wikis would help as well. From my experience, its like that many wikis, some wiki users have never even crossed paths with discussions users bc neither ventures far from their section.
That's the trend that I've noticed with user creation on TVD. A lot just create new accounts for post and comment on discussions, though frankly half of the questions asked, that are duplicates or similar, could easily be answered if the wiki was checked prior to asking. lol But yeah, the users there hardly ever come to the main namespace. I think if they incorporate the background and the wiki feed into discussions then the look and feel may be more inclusive or if they have a discussions recent actively page/log.
Excellent point. That's further proof that the discussions feels disconnected from the wiki. The users don't even bother to look up the info that they're inquiring about. Some of them don't even know how to use wiki.
For consistency, Last Temptation of Midnight - "of" is lowercase, yet for Riders On The Storm -- "On The" are uppercase.
I already created the category for the screencaps of 1x09 but I didn't want to tag them all if it needed to be changed.
The original link for episode names, which I guess slipped attention, has "on the" as lowercase. Should we change it to "Riders on the Storm"? If so we can leave the redirect and work towards deleted the redirects as we go throughout the pages, etc.
