In The Virgin Sacrifice, Melanie Pratt arrives in Midnight, Texas with the roar of construction trucks. As the Midnighters leave their homes to inquire about the commotion, she apologizes for the terrible first impression but informs them that she's an associate with "Albany Worldwide". She works for the hospitality company and explains to them that they are the new owners of the hotel in Midnight and they are renovating the historic property. The Midnighters are unnerved with this new information and even more reluctant to hear, that in order to revitalize Midnight, they plan to make Midnight a tourist destination, bringing in people from all over, due to the town's colorful history.
