In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Monica Owusu-Breen states that she drew inspiration from the first and third books, incorporating the show with specific scenes, relationships, and villains.[1] She goes on to elaborate that with the finale of the first season, the second season has been cued up with stories using the second book as a guide.[2]
